“100 Years of the Kingston Volunteer Fire Company (2024)” (video)
A talk by George Luck Jr. on May 14th at 7:30 PM. Community fire protection for Kingston, New Jersey began with an organizational meeting on February 29, 1924. The Kingston Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 (as it was then officially named) received a state charter later in that year.
In celebration of its 100th anniversary, former chief George Luck, Jr. will present an illustrated talk covering the history and membership of the fire company.
About Our Speaker:
Fire Chief George Luck Jr, now retired from fire company leadership, is also vice president of the Kingston Historical Society and a familiar presenter of history in Central New Jersey.
He has spent over 50 years in the Fire Company and is fascinated with learning about the organization’s past.

Half way between New York and Philadelphia, Kingston, New Jersey was a natural place for inns and taverns for travelers. On May 6, George Luck Jr. led a walk down Main Street describing Kingston’s history through its inns and taverns.
